At HelloFresh, every ingredient tells a story and behind each one is a partner who shares our commitment to quality, sustainability, and feeding families with care. For more than two decades, Eagle Eye Produce has been doing just that. From humble beginnings in a laundry room in Roberts, Idaho, this family-owned company has grown into a leading supplier of fresh produce across North America.
Today, they supply HelloFresh with high-quality onions grown on U.S. farms and bring with them a deep-rooted dedication to doing things the right way, from the soil to the supply chain.
HelloFresh: Can you tell us a little bit about the history of Eagle Eye Produce?
Eagle Eye Produce: Eagle Eye Produce started in 1996, when Newman Giles launched the company from the laundry room in his home in Roberts, Idaho. With experience as a produce inspector, he began selling and coordinating shipments of potatoes, building strong relationships and learning the business from the ground up. In the early 2000s, he purchased a potato packing facility in Idaho Falls, which became a key part of our growth. Before long, he expanded into Nogales, Arizona, to ship fresh vegetables from Mexico. Shortly after, we began shipping watermelon and trucking our own product. Then we took the next big step by investing in the soil and growing our own crops.
Most produce companies start on the farm and grow outward. We started with the customer and worked backward. That gave us a clear view of what matters most to buyers, and that perspective still guides how we operate today.
Today, Eagle Eye Produce is a fully integrated grower, packer, and shipper with operations across the Western United States. We ship potatoes, onions, watermelons, and mixed dry vegetables to customers across North America.
HelloFresh: What does your partnership with HelloFresh look like—from what you supply to how you align on sustainability and community values?
Eagle Eye Produce: We’re proud to supply HelloFresh with high-quality onions from our U.S. farms. Both companies are focused on reducing food waste, improving efficiency, and supporting communities. That shared commitment makes for a strong partnership.
HelloFresh: How does sustainability influence your approach across farming, production, and shipping and what practices are you most proud of?
Eagle Eye Produce: For us, sustainability starts with efficiency. We are focused on doing more with less, using fewer resources while improving yield and quality. From the farm to HelloFresh facilities, our goal is to make each step smarter and more resource conscious.
We are especially proud of the steps we have taken in water conservation through our water reuse programs and precision irrigation. These are real, measurable changes that help our business run better and reduce our environmental footprint at the same time.

At Eagle Eye Produce, every onion has a story.
HelloFresh: What are some of the most impactful ways you’ve conserved water and energy across your farms and facilities?
Eagle Eye Produce: We use highly efficient pivots and drip irrigation on our farms that get the most out of every drop. These irrigation systems are designed with the right spacing, sprinkler systems, and other advanced monitoring technologies to determine how much water is needed and use the right amount of water for different soil types, and adjust irrigation based on rainfall, humidity, wind, and evaporation rates. We also operate a water reuse program at some facilities that filters and recycles water so it can be used for multiple days, reducing overall water demand.
We have also invested in renewable energy at some warehouses with solar panels and switched to LED lighting and more efficient power use with timers, high-efficiency HVAC systems, and other energy efficient equipment.
HelloFresh: Can you share how your regenerative growing practices and partnerships with local vendors support long-term environmental health?
Eagle Eye Produce: We are working toward more regenerative practices by building soil health, rotating crops, and reducing chemical inputs where possible. Many of our farms and partners are certified in Integrated Pest Management (IPM), which helps us minimize pesticide use while protecting crop health. We work closely with growers who share these values, many of whom have farmed their land for generations, so they are deeply committed to preserving it for the future.
HelloFresh: Can you tell us about the mission behind the Produce for the Care & Cure foundation and its impact so far?
Eagle Eye Produce: The Produce for the Care & Cure Foundation was created to support individuals and families facing life threatening illnesses, including cancer and other serious health conditions. A portion of all produce sold with the PCC logo goes directly to research programs, hospitals, and families who need it most. The impact has been truly inspiring. We have seen firsthand how this support brings hope during incredibly difficult times. It is a cause that means a lot to us, and something our team, growers, and retail partners are genuinely honored to be part of.
HelloFresh: What are some of the ways you give back to your employees and local communities beyond the foundation’s work?
Eagle Eye Produce: We regularly sponsor local events, donate produce to food banks, and support community programs through charitable giving. We are especially proud to invest in 4H and other youth agriculture programs. Supporting the next generation of ag leaders is something we care deeply about, and we believe it is critical to keeping agriculture strong for the future. Internally, we offer internships, host employee appreciation events several times a year, and provide education and career development opportunities to help our team grow.
HelloFresh: Looking ahead, what’s next on your sustainability roadmap and what are you most excited about?
Eagle Eye Produce: We’re really excited about what’s ahead. We’re expanding our use of packaging including recycled material, adding more renewable energy to our facilities, and continuing to invest in smarter irrigation and harvest technology. One of the most exciting projects is rolling out Integrated Pest Management (IPM) practices across more of our farming operations over the next year. It is a big step toward reducing chemical use, protecting pollinators, and improving long term soil health. We are also building better traceability tools to track our progress and give us a clearer picture of how our efforts are making a difference across the supply chain.
Whether it’s conserving water through precision irrigation, investing in recycled packaging, or giving back through their Produce for the Care & Cure Foundation, Eagle Eye Produce leads with purpose and passion. Their vertically integrated “Roots to Routes” model means they can make smart, sustainable decisions at every stage and it shows in the quality of the produce our customers enjoy every week.
We’re proud to partner with growers who believe, like we do, that better food starts with better practices. Curious how HelloFresh is working with suppliers like Eagle Eye Produce to grow a more sustainable future? Learn more here.
