Shining a Light on TQL:
Total Quality Logistics (TQL) is the second-largest freight brokerage firm in North America and has been a HelloFresh partner for over five years. We’re proud to partner with an organization that, like us, cares deeply about giving back to communities.
Through its Moves that Matter program, TQL covers the cost of transportation to deliver donated freight to nonprofits and communities in need. It uses its 160,000-plus carrier network to move donated loads to people facing food insecurity and individuals needing disaster relief.

Moves that Matter started in 2014 after the tragic shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary in Newtown, Conn. A charitable foundation asked TQL to deliver one of 26 playgrounds designed to honor the children who lost their lives to Newtown. TQL, uniquely positioned to assist, seized the opportunity to help. When the foundation’s plans to move materials for five other playgrounds fell through, TQL covered the cost of transporting those as well.
Since then, the program has moved over 11.6 million pounds of charitable goods. Each year, it diverts 630,000 pounds of fresh food from landfills and provides it to food rescue organizations.
The need for Moves that Matter remains substantial. Inspired to assist even more, TQL in 2020 pledged to cover $1 million in transportation costs to move charitable loads to nonprofits. It reached the halfway point of that pledge so quickly that it doubled its Moves that Matter commitment to $2 million in 2022.
Moves that Matter’s Impact:
- 2020 – TQL moved 36 truckloads of food
- 2021 – TQL moved 106 truckloads of food
- 2022 – TQL moved 164 truckloads of food
- 2023 Goal: 200+ truckloads of food

Joining Forces:
Through HelloFresh’s social impact efforts, we’ve been able to join forces with TQL and double the impact. Together, we deliver truckloads of surplus ingredients and meal kits to nonprofits and food banks in Atlanta, Philadelphia, and the Bay Area.
