Since 2021, Whirlpool Corporation and Feeding America have collaborated on the Feel Good Fridge program Feel Good Fridge program, an initiative to combat food insecurity and promote environmental sustainability by providing refurbished refrigerators stocked with nutritious food to pantries and nonprofits nationwide. This year, we’re excited to join them, along with Total Quality Logistics, to help broaden the program’s reach and impact.

With HelloFresh supplying fresh ingredients and TQL handling logistics, the program will now reach 13 U.S. cities, including Dallas, Detroit, and Los Angeles. To date, the Feel Good Fridge program has provided assistance for more than 25,000 families. This partnership addresses the critical issue of food insecurity, which affects 44 million Americans, including one in five children.

“Increasing the availability and accessibility of fresh produce and ingredients is a key part of HelloFresh’s mission to fight food insecurity,” said Jeff Yorzyk, our Senior Director of Sustainability. “We’re proud to partner with Whirlpool and TQL to help alleviate food insecurity by meeting communities in need where they are.”

The program not only fights hunger but also promotes environmental sustainability by repurposing refrigerators — saving over 900 fridges from ending up in landfills — and reducing food waste. Additionally, by salvaging and distributing over 250,000 pounds of food that would otherwise go to waste, the initiative promotes sustainable living practices and reduces food waste.

Feeding America — a nonprofit network of 200 food banks leading the fight against hunger in the United States — will also supply food in addition to HelloFresh, ensuring that the initiative feeds those in areas with the highest need.

The partnership aims to place 3,000 refrigerators by 2030, significantly contributing to the fight against hunger in the U.S.

Community members in the program’s participating areas can visit Feel Good Fridge locations to access free, fresh foods, and gain access to nutritious meals. This program provides immediate relief and supports long-term food security and community well-being.
