No child should go hungry just because school is out. That’s the driving force behind No Breaks for Hunger, HelloFresh’s spring campaign launched in partnership with No Kid Hungry. After hearing directly from educators about the growing issue of childhood hunger, HelloFresh stepped in to take action in supporting students and families in need.
Over spring break, HelloFresh partnered with local organizations, schools, and city officials to deliver more than 16,000 meals to families facing food insecurity across the country, from Arizona to New York City. To get a closer look at what went into making these events happen, we sat down with Kelsey F., Social Impact Manager at HelloFresh, who helped bring No Breaks for Hunger to life on the ground. Watch the video below to see the impact in action and keep reading for a behind-the-scenes conversation with Kelsey about how it all came together.

HelloFresh: Can you tell us a bit more about the distribution events HelloFresh held during No Breaks for Hunger?
Kelsey: We helped deliver over 16,000 meals to students and their families during spring break, when access to school meals isn’t guaranteed. What made this initiative really special was how hands-on it was. Our teams in our distribution centers. came together to pack fully loaded meal boxes for families across Arizona, New York City, and New Jersey. These weren’t just deliveries, they were community-driven events that brought together our employees, local partners, and volunteers to make a tangible impact where it was most needed.

HF: Who were some of the partners you worked with, and how did those collaborations come together?
K: We intentionally focused our efforts in communities where HelloFresh has operations, recognizing that food insecurity is a very real issue in our own backyard. We partnered with schools, local food banks, and even city officials who have deep ties to the communities they serve. Their local expertise shaped everything, from how we structured distribution events to where and when we delivered meals, so we could be as impactful as possible. These collaborations weren’t just logistical partnerships, they were mission-driven relationships built on trust and a shared commitment to helping families.
HF: What kinds of meals or resources were being provided, and how did they impact the communities you visited?
K: Each family received a fully loaded HelloFresh box filled with nutritious, kid-friendly meals, including our ready-to-eat options that require little to no cooking. That was an intentional choice. We wanted to make sure the meals were accessible for all families, especially those without consistent access to kitchens or time to cook. We heard from families and community partners that the convenience and quality of the meals made a real difference, especially during a time when many kids would otherwise go without reliable meals.
HF: What do you hope people take away from the work being done through these events?
K: I hope this campaign helps more people recognize how widespread and urgent the issue of childhood hunger really is. One in five kids in the U.S. faces food insecurity, and those challenges don’t pause during school breaks. At HelloFresh, we believe in using our platform to not only feed families but also to raise awareness and inspire action. I hope this partnership serves as a model for how companies, nonprofits, and local leaders can come together to create meaningful, community-based solutions. No teacher should have to dip into their own pockets to feed students, and no family should have to choose between paying bills and putting food on the table.

The fight against childhood hunger doesn’t stop when school lets out—and neither do we. Through No Breaks for Hunger, HelloFresh and No Kid Hungry are proving what’s possible when businesses, nonprofits, and communities come together with a shared mission.
“Ultimately, we want to show that when we come together with a shared purpose,” Kelsey adds, “We can create lasting impact and ensure every child has the nourishment they need to grow, learn, and thrive.”
