HelloFresh and Factor work together to fight food insecurity

GivingTuesday is a global day of giving, created in 2012 to help encourage people to give back to their communities and support causes they care about during the Holiday season.

Our mission at HelloFresh is to change the way people eat forever—that includes ensuring access to food for all, all year round. To make a change, we partner with impactful organizations across the country who share in our vision of alleviating hunger.

This year, we’re proud to spotlight a few of our partners—No Kid Hungry, Feeding America, and The Food Education Fund—three incredible organizations working to fight hunger, empower students, and create lasting change in their communities.

Whether it’s providing grants to combat food insecurity or ensuring high school students gain access to culinary education, we’re thrilled to celebrate the impactful work of our partners and the ways HelloFresh collaborates with them. And if you feel as passionate about their efforts as we are, please join us in giving back this GivingTuesday.

No Kid Hungry

In 2024, HelloFresh partnered with No Kid Hungry for the “13 for 13 Million” campaign

Run by Share Our Strength, No Kid Hungry is a national campaign working to solve problems of hunger and poverty in the United States and around the world. One in five kids in the United States live with hunger; some are missing meals while others are faced with uncertainty around food security.

No Kid Hungry believes no child should face hunger and have made it their mission to ensure that every single child in America has the food they need to grow up healthy and strong. Through grants that support schools during the academic year and initiatives to provide meals during summer months when school isn’t in session, the advocacy and the work No Kid Hungry does alongside their partners is paramount to creating a hunger-free future.

How HelloFresh Supports No Kid Hungry

In 2024, HelloFresh launched a partnership with No Kid Hungry and announced our “13 for 13 Million” campaign aimed at filling the summer hunger gap. While 13 million kids face food insecurity across the country, the issue becomes even more pressing during the summer. We supported 13 communities across the country by hosting meal kit distribution events, installing “pop-up” community food pantries and pointing families to resources from No Kid Hungry. And in the Fall, while many families are focused on “back to school” efforts, we inspired our customers with a cause marketing campaign – for every kids meal purchased from HelloFresh during the month of September, we donated 10 meals to kids in need.

Feeding America

As the largest charity working to end hunger in the United States, Feeding America is dedicated to ensuring everyone has access to nutritious food. They partner with food banks, food pantries, and local food programs to bring food to families and individuals facing hunger.

They work with lawmakers to improve access to food assistance programs and partner with the food industry to rescue food that would otherwise go to waste. This rescued food is then collected, stored, and distributed to local pantries and meal programs through their network of food banks.

As a Feeding America Leadership Partner, HelloFresh is proud to be recognized for our significant contributions in donating food to partners within the Feeding America network, helping families facing food insecurity. Last year, we donated 7.3 million pounds of unsold, edible food, representing 53% of our total surplus.

HelloFresh also partners with food banks in the Feeding America network through its Meals with Meaning program. Each week, HelloFresh provides over 40,000 free meal kits to individuals facing food insecurity. These kits include wholesome, easy-to-follow, and adaptable recipes. The program operates in Atlanta, Dallas and Fort Worth, Newark, New York City, and Phoenix, collaborating with Feeding America partners to address the specific needs of each community.

Food Education Fund

The Food Education Fund is a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing public high school students—many of whom come from underserved communities—with the knowledge, skills, and network they need to transform their futures.

Through experiential learning, mentorship, and resources for culinary arts, students become immersed in the dynamic world of hospitality and are able to equip themselves with the knowledge and skills they need to flourish.

How HelloFresh Supports the Food Education Fund

HelloFresh supports FEF’s mission through several key initiatives, including a sponsorship at their annual gala held each October and the Pass the Spatula student magazine. In January 2024, we hosted our first annual “Chopped”-style cookoff with FEF, where students were challenged to create a unique meal using only ingredients from a selected HelloFresh meal kit. Throughout the year, we have hosted events and activities with FEF students, aimed at enhancing food education, including tours of our NYC test kitchen to meet our culinary team.

This GivingTuesday, HelloFresh is proud to celebrate our partners and the work they do to end hunger. Together—on GivingTuesday and beyond—we’ll continue to fight for a future where everyone has access to the food needed to thrive.
