Celebrating HelloFresh’s Hunger Heroes

As Hunger Action Month comes to a close, we’d be remiss not to highlight specific HelloFresh team members who are working especially hard in the fight against food insecurity. 

Nominated by their team members, six “HelloFresh Hunger Heroes” were selected because they’ve made a positive difference in their communities. These individuals have implemented innovative social impact programs, managed our food waste reporting, coordinated volunteer efforts, and more – all to help ensure that nutritious meals reach those who need them most. 

Why Our Hunger Heroes Love HelloFresh

At HelloFresh, our Hunger Heroes take pride in contributing to initiatives that support the fight against hunger. When asked what they love most about their work, here’s what they had to say:

“My favorite part of my job is getting to dedicate time to projects that make an incredible impact by getting high-quality food to food-insecure individuals and families. I’ve been lucky enough to volunteer with some of our partners in multiple states, and getting to see the impact of our projects firsthand is extremely rewarding. Those projects are the most fulfilling part of my work.” — Savanna F.

Addressing Food Insecurity in Work and Personal Life

From delivering food to leading donation programs, our HelloFresh Hunger Heroes make change happen. Here are some examples of how they are addressing food insecurity: 

“I’ve been incredibly fortunate to shape a lot of my career at HelloFresh around working on reducing food insecurity and food waste. I’ve been able to lead the donation program creation with our third-party partners, work with procurement on our Meals with Meaning program, and help manage the operations in our partnership with No Kid Hungry.” — Savanna F.

I partner and volunteer with Chicago mutual aid groups, we provide and deliver food and other essential resources to our most impacted community members facing food insecurity in Chicago’s food apartheid. At work, I have had the opportunity to volunteer for our Fuel for Change efforts, participate in food drives, and always step up to assist our Teams when we have an opportunity to make a difference in our communities.  — Dana R.

What Motivates Our Hunger Heroes to Make an Impact 

We asked our employees about the motivations that drive them to make an impact in the fight against hunger. Whether it’s their background or their dedication to our HelloFresh social impact work, here’s what they said:

“I believe that access to nutritious food is a basic human right. There’s a common misconception that food insecurity only exists in certain parts of the world, but I’ve seen firsthand the challenges many individuals and families face in securing healthy meals, even in our own communities. This is why I am deeply motivated to be part of HelloFresh, an organization committed to making a difference by reducing food waste and increasing access to healthy food for those in need.” — Mohammad A.

“As a child, I was food insecure at times and we received assistance from charities or our school district so to be able to give back to others in need now is fulfilling.” — Vanessa K.

“I am passionate about community and helping people find resources. As an Engagement Specialist, this passion has helped me connect with my team and help find solutions for people’s everyday experience.” — Dana R.

“My motivation to make a significant impact in the fight against hunger stems from my belief that access to nutritious food is a fundamental right for everyone. Knowing that transportation plays a critical role in getting food from warehouses to those in need drives me to ensure that our operations at HelloFresh are efficient, reliable, and community focused.” —  Patrick S.
