At HelloFresh, LIMES is committed to fostering inclusivity and embracing diversity in all forms.
At HelloFresh, LIMES (Leveraging Inclusivity for Minority Employee Success) aims to expand inclusivity and diversity in all forms, while also celebrating the different cultures and backgrounds that bring our team—and our world—together.
This Black History Month, we’re turning to our incredible “Limers” to share their insights, stories, and perspectives on how we can uplift and help support our fellow employees, teammates, and friends, this February and beyond.
What are some of your favorite projects that either you or the LIMES ERG have worked on to support the black community?
- I think my favorite one has been the meals that we’re featuring for Black History Month—we have a lot of different options that I can’t wait to try! – Jessica F.
- We’re going to have some recipes on the menu that have been developed by our culinary teams and in conjunction with our LIMES ERG from African, Black, and Caribbean cultures and they’re going to be live on the menu for you to order. – Aja G.
What does Black History Month mean to you?
- To me, it’s the celebration of all things black culture, food, and history. It’s the month when we can really, truly understand that black people are not a monolith. And there’s so much to celebrate that we all bring to the table. – Christina B.
- It means celebrating people that look like me. When I was younger, we didn’t have a black President in our history books. So the fact that my kids get to see that, that’s a big one up for us. – Jessica F.
- I think it’s a time to reflect on the past and look at how far we’ve come. It’s also a time to look to the future and think about ways that we can move forward and continue to uplift the black community. – Aja G.
- We had Black History Month every year in school, but it became a bit stagnant when we kept learning about the same people. As I’ve gotten older, I’ve learned to appreciate and explore other communities and the multitude of Black people around the world. – Keith S.
How does the LIMES ERG celebrate Black History Month? And what are some future goals or plans for the LIMES ERG?
- Limers go hard for Black History Month! I’m really happy because I worked on the team to get the first limited-time offering recipes on the menu this month. As an ERG, we want to continue to expand. Hopefully, folks will buy the limited-time offerings for those two weeks, as well as the Founder’s Day package that’s happening! We have a lot more going on with employee development, professional development, and training as well. – Jolaade A.
- Going forward, we want to show everyone that supporting black people can mean going to a black-owned restaurant or streaming a predominantly black casted movie—taking yourself outside of your comfort zone and experiencing someone else’s culture and being open to it. – Keith S.
Any other suggestions on how folks can celebrate or honor Black History Month?
- Step outside of your comfort zone. Go to an exhibit from a black artist, or try a black-owned restaurant. Explore something new, something that you have a passion for, but try to find it from a black source. – Christina B.
- A way you can celebrate Black History Month is to support your local black-owned businesses and say hey to your black friends and tell them, Happy Black History Month! – Jessica F.
- Read—definitely read a lot of works by black authors. bell hooks and Angela Davis are some of my favorites. They’re just such visionaries to help us continue to move forward, especially in an environment like today’s. – Aja G.
- Be a voice for the people who do not have one and advocate. Put your heels down, your head forward and really try to move and make sure that we’re all able to live in this world peacefully and really achieve the dream MLK had for everyone, not just one group. – Jolaade A.
Thank you to our LIMES ERG members for showing us how we can celebrate and support Black History Month today and every day.
