March is Women’s History Month, a time to celebrate, reflect on, and honor the significant contributions women have made throughout history.
At HelloFresh, we’re proud to commemorate this month by recognizing the stories and achievements of the remarkable women within our company. And today, we’re excited to introduce Amy K., Data Scientist, Customer Care, to share her journey.

Introducing Amy K., Data Scientist, Customer Care
“Women’s History Month is an important time for me,” Amy says, “this is the time where we can amplify women’s voices, showcase their potential to achieve their aspirations, and honor the trailblazing women who paved the way for us.”
We sat down with Amy to learn more about her path to HelloFresh, her involvement with the Women Inclusion Network (WIN) Employee Resource Group (ERG), the challenges she’s overcome in her career, and of course—her lasting advice for fellow women in the workplace.
HelloFresh: Can you share a bit about your career path and what led you to your current role at HelloFresh?
Amy K: When I was first in college, I thought I was going to become a Research Psychologist. The real world got to me very fast, and I realized pursuing psychology probably wouldn’t be my ideal career. I wanted to maintain the core of what I loved about psychology—data driven decision-making and statistics. After much reflection, I realized that Data Science was the career for me and thus began a multi-year journey. I started a part-time master’s program and got a job at a company that did transportation for paper products primarily (not fun to work at during the pandemic). I’m always on the hunt for growth opportunities and wanted to continue to challenge myself as I learned more about data science from school. This set me up well when I started looking to take my analytics elsewhere, landing me at HelloFresh in our Logistics department. I made a point of advocating for myself and working my passion for data science into my role, so I was able to transition to my current role once I finished my Masters degree.
HF: What does your day-to-day look like as Data Scientist, Customer Care?
AK: Every day is different, which is what I love about it. Our team is small but mighty, so I have the pleasure of doing all things data engineering and data science. I spend a fair amount of time learning about new advancements in data science to stay up to date on the industry and finding new, more efficient ways of doing things. Most days are a combination of a little bit of coding, a little bit of technical concept translating, and a little bit of troubleshooting when we have pipelines that fail.

Amy at her first WIN event—building community through Coffee Chats!
HF: Can you share a bit about your work with the WIN ERG?
AK: I started in 2023 as our Finance Chair. Located in Boulder, CO, I built out the local WIN chapter in that location with smaller-scale events like Coffee Chats where women and allies can hang out and get to know each other. In the years since, I’ve been able to increase the variety of events we’ve had by hosting speed networking events, movie nights, and Galentine’s cocktail hours – and this is not without the help of additional women and allies coming on board to help make these events happen. It’s been amazing to see the growth and engagement increase. We spend so much time at work, I believe building a supportive community is so critical to help everyone feel connected and empowered, which is why I cherish my work with the WIN ERG.
HF: What challenges have you faced in your career and how did you overcome them?
AK: My most difficult challenge is one that a lot of women in the tech space face – overcoming the perception that people don’t see me as a tech person, specifically a Data Scientist. I went through graduate school and a couple of career jumps to get here, leaving it open for people to question my qualifications, aptitude, and ability to do the job. I am fortunate to have some really phenomenal, supportive people in my life who have reminded me how smart and capable I am when the self-doubt has kicked in. It took a long time to change those thought patterns but in leaning on these people for support when I’m not capable of doing that for myself, I’ve been able to crush those moments of self-doubt and use my now “Data Scientist voice” to build up other aspiring women in tech.
HF: What skills or qualities do you think help contribute to your success?
AK: Curiosity is by far the most important skill I have. It is what helps me build relationships with people, learn new skills, and stay engaged in my work every day. As a Data Scientist, technical skills are obviously important, but I have found that it’s better to know how to use your resources and how to ask the right questions more than anything else – curiosity is really what encapsulates that. Curiosity is what drives the decisions I make for my coding, looking for new ways of doing things or trying different approaches that may or may not work. Curiosity encourages me to ask questions and get to know folks around me, bolstering our working relationships and understanding my coworkers as people. Curiosity is also what keeps me loving the work that I do and staying fresh in my mindset – there’s always a new challenge to tackle and new ideas to think up.
HF: What progress have you seen for women in your field?
AK: I started my data science journey in 2018 and the field has changed so much in that time. I see more women Data Scientists, and I see more women wanting to get into or switch into tech which is the best progress I could hope for. Even for women outside of the tech space, I see more and more women looking to learn technical skills to enhance their current responsibilities and for this, I couldn’t be happier. When we help each other, we all get better together!

Amy and HelloFresh employees came together for one of her favorite events—Speed Networking!
HF: What does Women’s History Month mean to you personally?
AK: Women’s History Month is an opportunity to educate and raise awareness about the challenges women have faced and continue to face, including gender inequality, discrimination, and underrepresentation. By sharing stories of resilience, strength, and leadership, we can empower women to challenge stereotypes, break barriers, and pursue their dreams unapologetically. It’s an invitation to engage in meaningful conversations, support women-owned businesses, donate to organizations that empower women, and work towards a more inclusive society where we can all thrive.
A big thank you to Amy for sharing her story! At HelloFresh, we remain committed to amplifying women’s voices, promoting inclusivity, and supporting the incredible people who drive our company forward — this Women’s History Month and beyond.
