This October, HelloFresh and Tarrant Area Food Bank celebrated an incredible milestone years in the making: 2 million meals donated to families across Texas through the Meals with Meaning program.
A Growing Partnership with a Shared Mission
Every week across North Texas, hundreds of thousands of families rely on the support of Tarrant Area Food Bank (TAFB) to help put nourishing meals on the table. Founded in 1982, TAFB has grown into one of the region’s largest nonprofit organizations, providing over 1.25 million nutritious meals each week through a broad network of 500+ partner agencies, volunteers and donors.

We are thrilled to celebrate a major milestone: 2 million meals donated across Texas with our partners at Tarrant Area Food Bank.
As a member of the Feeding America network, the organization serves 13 counties — Tarrant, Bosque, Somervell, Erath, Cooke, Wise, Parker, Palo Pinto, Johnson, Denton, Hamilton, Hood, and Hill — working to empower communities to alleviate hunger and improve health.
Since 2021, HelloFresh has partnered with TAFB through the Meals with Meaning program, which began as an emergency response and has steadily expanded in scope and impact. What started during the pandemic has evolved into a long-term collaboration supported by consistent allocations, community partnerships, and, most recently, the donation of a refrigerated van that strengthens last-mile delivery for homebound neighbors facing food insecurity.
Reaching 13 Counties Through a Network Built for Access
“Across our 13-county service area, TAFB allocates Meals with Meaning boxes through 500+ strategically located partner agencies and through TAFB-operated community and mobile markets to meet specific needs,” they share. All kits are processed at the Fort Worth distribution center before being allocated based on food insecurity levels and community need.
North Texas families, they note, are increasingly squeezed by rising costs of living, transportation barriers, long work hours, and unexpected crises. By providing complete, ready-to-cook meals that stretch food budgets and simplify dinner, the program offers stability for households facing tight margins.
One of the newest developments is last-mile delivery. With the donation of a refrigerated van, TAFB launched a pilot to reach homebound neighbors, including older adults, expecting mothers, and people with disabilities, who might otherwise be unable to access food.
Helping Children and Families Through Seasonal Gaps
TAFB also highlights the program’s value during school breaks, when many kids lose access to consistent meals. By offering simple, family-friendly recipes, the kits help parents keep balanced dinners on the table during seasonal gaps.
Families consistently share that the boxes are high quality, easy to prepare, and help stretch weekly budgets. Parents especially appreciate having every ingredient in one place and recipes that kids can help with, turning dinner into family time while reducing stress and food waste.

“Reaching 2 million meals in Texas is both humbling and energizing,” TAFB shares.
A Milestone Built by Community Effort
For TAFB, reaching 2 million meals donated with HelloFresh reflects the power of collaboration. “Reaching 2 million meals in Texas is both humbling and energizing,” they share. “It represents thousands of families nourished, countless volunteer hours and a strong, sustained partnership with HelloFresh.”
The milestone has strengthened their resolve to continue expanding access across all 13 counties. As they put it, “We’re proud of what we’ve accomplished together, and grateful for the consistent support that makes reliable access to nutritious food possible.”
Looking Toward the Future
TAFB sees significant opportunity for the partnership to continue evolving. “Looking ahead, we see many exciting opportunities to improve our work through our partnership with HelloFresh, including expanding access to nutritious food in rural communities, integrating nutrition education content in every box, and aligning distributions with healthcare partners to end hunger and improve health through our food and nutrition resources.”
They emphasize that continued investments in cold-chain capacity and last-mile delivery will allow them to serve more seniors and homebound neighbors, improve reliability for hard-to-reach sites, and deepen impact across our 13-county service area.
How the Community Can Get Involved
TAFB believes that hunger relief is a collective effort, one that depends on residents, businesses, and partners working together. “Local residents, businesses, and community and faith-based organizations play an essential role in our collective work to end hunger and improve health,” they say, adding that individuals can make a gift, become monthly donors, or volunteer regularly, while businesses can sponsor distributions, host drives, or organize volunteer days.

TAFB believes that hunger relief is a collective effort, one that depends on residents, businesses, and partners working together.
“Choose one action you can take this month to end hunger in our community,” they add, “whether you decide to volunteer, donate, start a fundraiser or become an advocate for hunger relief.”
For anyone seeking food assistance or looking to support their mission, TAFB offers an open invitation: “Whatever you decide, we are here and invite you to join our efforts online at tafb.org and on social media.”
We’re grateful for our ongoing partnership with TAFB and proud to work alongside their team in expanding access to nutritious meals across North Texas.
