At HelloFresh, our Hunger Heroes campaign spotlights the individuals and organizations working tirelessly to end childhood hunger. This nationwide effort is about more than meals. It’s about ensuring every child has the chance to learn, grow, and thrive.
For more than 40 years, Share Our Strength has been at the heart of this movement. Since March 2020, the nonprofit has helped provide over 3.2 billion meals to kids and distributed $180 million in grants to communities nationwide. Their mission is simple yet powerful: break the cycle of hunger and poverty so families everywhere can build stronger futures.
Through their No Kid Hungry campaign, Share Our Strength is making sure children across America have reliable access to healthy meals, yet they know that food alone isn’t enough.
As they say, “It takes more than food to end hunger.” Lasting change also depends on pairing meal programs with efforts to create long-term financial security and stability for families, while also building public support and political will to tackle hunger at its roots.
Meet Julie Garcia: A Hunger Hero in Action
As part of No Kid Hungry, Julie plays a key role in advancing programs that ensure kids have access to the meals they need to thrive. From school breakfast initiatives to summer meal sites, the work she helps drive is changing lives and creating positive futures for children.
“I’m really proud to work at No Kid Hungry and I’m extremely proud of the impact that we’ve been able to make across the country,” she says.
But Julie is quick to point out that no single person or group can solve this problem alone. “This work cannot be done by just one organization; it literally takes collaboration and a concerted effort to come together and really work on this issue,” she emphasizes.
That collaboration extends to everyday people, too. “Every day, people can help advocate for bills that are going to help on that policy and global level that are going to impact childhood hunger,” Julie notes.
Her words reflect the core of the Hunger Heroes campaign: that change happens when communities, nonprofits, policymakers, and partners like HelloFresh unite around a shared mission.

“I’m really proud to work at No Kid Hungry and I’m extremely proud of the impact that we’ve been able to make across the country,” Julie says.
